These will be two loop tours of 45 and 20 km in length, and the routes will run between dirt roads and paved roads with little traffic, with elevation differences all easily overcome using e-bikes.
Arrival at the facility and accommodation in the rooms that are located in the various apartments of which the residence is composed and that will be available to guests starting at 3 pm. Afternoon relaxing in the thermal pools. In the evening briefing of the trip, delivery e-bike, dinner at the restaurant with typical local products km 0.
We begin our tour to discover the Terra del Tufo with a loop route to explore the villages overlooking the deep valleys carved into the tuff by the Lente stream. Sorano, Sovana and Pitigliano, here echo the stories of ancient peoples since the middle of the third millennium B.C., from civilisations of the Etruscans to the Romans, from the Aldobrandeschi to the Orsini, from the Medici to the Lorena. Tuff rock is the element that characterises the beautiful villages that rise in this area, rich in millennial history. The itinerary offers an overview of the place. The route will run mainly on asphalt roads with little traffic, on dirt roads and in some sections in the Vie Cave, the ancient roads dug up by the Etruscans through the tuff and which were used to connect the various towns with each other.
Stop for lunch in Sovana. En route, you cannot miss a visit to the historic center of Pitigliano characterised by the dwellings carved directly into the tuff rock and the Jewish ghetto, in fact Pitigliano is also called the little Jerusalem.
Back at the hotel, relaxing break in the spa area, dinner and overnight stay.
The last day of this bicycle journey through the boundaries of time is dedicated to visiting one of the most amazing testimonies that the ancient inhabitants of these places have left to posterity. One path crosses tufa walls and an archaeological park where centuries of history coexist. Caves inhabited from ancient times, ruined fortresses abandoned by man and recaptured by the forest, and an open-air church.
This is the lost city of Vitozza, which houses within it the largest rock settlement in central Italy and the nostalgic ruins of a medieval town. The rock town is located near San Quirico di Sorano, which we will reach by bicycle and then continue on foot to visit the archaeological site.
It will be the completion of a wonderful journey through centuries and centuries of history, immersed in a unique landscape where, the imprint left by man is a tangible evidence of how it is possible to live in harmony with the nature that surrounds us, even today.
Return to facility in the early afternoon and end of the trip.
