HMO Active Travel Tuscany is a tour operator specializing in active vacations in Tuscany and especially in Maremma.

HMO are and initials of Hakuna Matata Outdoor, the name with which it all began.

2015

We met in 2015 during an excursion organized by Hakuna Matata Outdoor, an association that Alessandro had formed with the idea of introducing the Maremma, to the people who live there.
We both had a wonderful dream, that of making our passions a profession, needless to say, the meeting was fateful...

In 2019 we are leaving the "safe job," to follow our dream and begin the adventure that led us to the creation of HMO - Hakuna Matata Outdoor.
We have always loved the land that "hosts" us, our roots, history and traditions that are part of our DNA.
Tuscany, which has always been the cradle of great people and great men, such as the Etruscans, Leonardo da Vinci, Dante, Michelangelo, Galileo Galilei, Puccini, just to name a few, fascinates and amazes its visitors.

We are sure that you will always carry with you the desire to come back, to relive again "carefree" moments, so far away from the daily grind but so incredibly pleasant, that you will never be able to live without them again!

In my "first life" I lived in Rome, I was working as a Retail Area Manager and for hobbies I dabbled in practicing multiple outdoor sports. Then I met Alessandro and my my second life and the adventure Hakuna Matata Outdoor. First as a Guide Environmental and Nordic Walking, then as founder of the first incoming tourism tour operator active tourism in the Tuscan Maremma.

I am the DOC Tuscan of the group, born and raised in Maremma, a lifelong lover of nature and sports outdoors. Although life work has taken me away from Tuscany for a few years, the love for this land led me to abandon everything to return and start a new life. Thus was born Hakuna Matata Outdoor, with the goal of making know and love these places that are cherished.

I have always been passionate about nature and travel. The good fortune of having grown up in a bilingual family (Italian/English), has spurred me to travel and learn about the world, until making me decide that when I grew up I wanted to be an "explorer!" During the course as an Environmental Guide, I landed in Maremma and was captivated by it. E' here that I met Alessandro and Livia and decided to promote together with them, the beauty of this land.

  We did two adventures with Hakuna Matata on our recent trip to Tuscany & both were wonderful. We hiked Tuscany & Mount Amiata, had a delicious lunch & relaxed in thermal springs one day & toured a Brunello winery, had another yummy lunch & toured surrounding cities, shopping & learning the history of each area. Lucy and Alessandro were wonderful. We had a group of 8, with different physical abilities & they customized our adventures to meet all our needs.   Magnifica esperienza di tour in mountain bike con Alessandro. Siamo partiti dalla laguna di Orbetello per fare il giro completo del monte Argentario. Alessandro ci ha guidato nei punti panoramici più suggestivi e storici del percorso. Bellissimo! Una giornata interessante, divertente e a momenti impegnativa. :) sicuramente da provare!

  We loved our hike experience at Mount Amiata and our guide, Lucy - very knowledgeable and helpful. We would have been lost without her. She pointed out things we would not have noticed as well and helped translate during lunch. We would recommend HMO to any friends traveling to similar areas of Italy who are up for an outdoor adventure!
